Island Barn Reservoir Sailing Club offers a wide variety of sailing courses for adults (16+) and juniors (ages 7-17). Whether you're looking for relaxing cruising or to hone your competitive racing, learn to sail in Surrey and West London, just 15 miles from Charing Cross!
Our sailing courses combine the excitement of sailing with the laid-back atmosphere you'll only get at a friendly sailing club such as Island Barn. At the end of the sailing course, you will be invigorated, relaxed and smiling! And you'll take away a skill for life.

RYA Courses and Qualifications
The RYA National Sailing Scheme is a series of courses for adults (16+) enabling progression from complete beginner to advanced sailor in a controlled, safe and enjoyable environment. At Island Barn we teach RYA courses in dinghies. Our courses have been designed to help you enjoy whichever aspect of the sport appeals to you and they are taught by qualified RYA instructors

Adult Sailing (RYA Level 1 & 2) - TrySail
The Tuesday night TrySail is the perfect opportunity to try out sailing and get a relaxed and sociable taster of the sport following the RYA Level 1 & 2 programme. Learn to sail at a low cost, less than £15 per session. This includes the RYA qualifications and 3 months membership of the sailing club!

Junior Sailing School
The Junior Sailing School offers sailing instruction every summer Sunday afternoon for complete beginners up to skilled racers, with ages ranging from 7 to 17, in a safe, friendly, environment. Instruction is given in single handed Oppies, Toppers, Laser 4.7s, Laser Radials and double handed Fevas. No previous experience is need to join in and learn to sail.
