scorpian dinghy racing at island barn reservoir sailing club
Scorpion Sailing at Island Barn Reservoir Sailing Club

Island Barn Reservoir Sailing Club  (formerly Walton-on-Thames Sailing Club), located in West Molesey, near Hampton Court, is one of the friendliest clubs around (both afloat and ashore!) with strong Laser, Topper, Solo and RS200 fleets plus a wide range of other boats. We provide easy and uncrowded launching, good turnouts and excellent facilities for both sailors and spectators.

Our members cover a wide age range and we have a good youth fleet. Established in 1959 and sailing on Island Barn since 1973, we've always run on a 'by the members, for the members and community' basis. This means that we employ no staff; our members run races and rescue boats, serve at the bar and cook the lunch on a rota basis. This enables us to keep dues much lower than elsewhere for a small commitment of four duties per annum.

We are a fully recognised RYA training centre.  We work harder to make sure that your RYA training courses are safe, fun and enjoyable for adults and juniors.  However, we also recognise that some people want to learn to sail without the need for a qualification so we also offer a TrySail programme.
