    Laser Open October 2006

Despite heavy competition from other Laser events 23 sailors arrived ready to race on the morning of Saturday 14th October 2006. The first race started after a short postponement in very light conditions and John Reay quickly showed at the front of the fleet and extended his lead throughout for a comfortable win. Behind him racing was close and Simon Bean pulled clear of the crowd to secure second ahead of John Peck. The wind picked up for the second race and two very quick laps saw a three way battle at the front with Paul Wright Anderson taking the win ahead of Julian Smith and Kevin Pearson. Following lunch Kevin Pearson led from the start and despite some pressure held on to win from Rob Sumner and John Reay. With five races to sail the event was still wide open and John Reay took the initiative to secure a comfortable win from Paul Wright Anderson and Kevin Pearson. With no clear winner going into the final race Rob Sumner took first place ahead of John Peck but John Reay's third place was enough to secure the event. At the prize giving John Reay thanked the race officer and his team for five excellent races and great hospitality.
