Winter RS200 Series Round 3

  • Great fleet racing in the RS200 fleet this weekend. We had six RS200's racing the mini series with two of our regulars unable to make it. I hope we can get nine boats for the next one.

First race was won by Carl and Julie fresh from the top 50 result at the Bloody Mary, with Dan and Jo second (largely because the forgot to put the bung in the boat) and Clare and Lucy third (who thought they had done well to keep up with Dan and Jo only to find it because the competition were sinking).

The second and third races were much closer.

The results for the second race were somewhat confusing given that no one was quite sure if they had finished but there was a close battle between Clare and Lucy and Simon and Penny for 3rd. And there was generally lots of place changing.  I still have no idea what the final placings were.

The third race was even closer with some interesting interpretations of the rules from CJ who came in third, after Jo and Dan (1st), Carl and Jamie (2nd). CJ had a close battle for third with Felicia and her Dad and Clare and Lucy. A big welcome to Felicia's dad who has joined the Rs200 fleet. Great racing.

Next mini series is 16 Feb with training with Matt on the 15th.

A couple of RS200s also went to the Bloody Mary and sailed in beautiful sunny conditions.

Carl and Julie were 47th - great result with Clare James and Claire Overstall 139th out of 330 competitors and about 290 finishers. It was a great day and a brilliant race to be part of."

If anyone is interested in sailing RS200s at the club please contact Clare James or Julie Harrison at the club."
