    Minutes.

    1. Actions from previous Meeting in May
    • Gareth Action will put out an email to the membership asking for a view of how the race structure should continue. Completed
    • Action to John: Ensure byelaws are up to date re class of boats and bring to main committee for ratification. Completed
    • Ajax would like to add an additional container on the site for their kit - discussion deferred to main committee (Action to John) ongoing to refer to main committee ( slow burning action)
    • Action John - To inform members via club notices - if they take a club boat out they must on a duty day inform the galley staff who will radio the duty officer informing them that a club boat is going out - rescue crew can then watch the boat to ensure safety. Completed
    • Action to Mike (Toppers) Jonathan and Nigel Pico and Visions. To test which mast head floats work best. Once test complete results to John/Nick. Action Completed
    • Action John - club website to contain videos on rigging the club boats so new members can be directed to this instruction. Ongoing action
    • Action John /Jonathan to design a suitable sticker to go on club boats reminding members of risks and to check their abilities. Ongoing action
    • Action Dave - Nigel to discuss when safety boat courses could be run taking some load off Dave and how a possible club refresher evening for instructors / PB drivers could be managed. Maybe with RYA type video instruction given. (Maybe an annual event) Completed
    • Action - Paddles (wooden) for righting boats - full discussion as an action for next meeting due to time. Action withdrawn
    • Action John - Invite club boat maintenance team to meet - Complete




    1. Sailing Programme -Gareth


    Gareth has completed a new survey for the club with regards to the racing programme going forward - he has circulated a draft for comments and how will put out the survey to members.

    RACING MARKS - Numbers are illegible. Agreed we need to repaint

    Action for club work day - various suggestions on painting the marks.



    1. Fleet captains programme updates:

    Laser - Simon - Laser Open held on 3rd July successful event 23 boats, ideally needed more experienced people as volunteers running the event.

    Proposal from Kim Gavin /Jonathan Leake for laser training during sept /October - Gavin /Jonathan to Speak to Gareth about dates.

    Potential for laser coaching throughout winter or a week long course at Christmas - Simon Bean has been involved in discussions but there is general enthusiasm for this.


    Solo - Peter Halliday reports that the Solo Open is set for the 25th September The race officer is Ben Setterfield - Gareth will check with him, Peter will coordinate with Uta regarding catering; mike J will assist peter with notice of race and sailing instructions. Jonathan will advertise race on WhatsApp and Facebook.


    Aeros - Gareth Planning event for next year.


    Toppers- Mike J and Jonathan L Open meeting planned September 18th predicted big turnout. Mike is preparing notice of race and SI's. This will be a qualifier event. There is a youth regional event at Queen Mary the week after. The zone squad is the 20/21st November.


    Feva - Brendon is organising an open meeting, Mike to confirm with Brendon dates.


    Optimist - Chris B there is an open meeting planned for the 24th July, Chris is organising the open and Mike J has volunteered as race officer. Mike will assist with NOR and SI's. Intention is to a have two fleet racing Main fleet and regatta fleet.


    RS200 - Nick - there will be an open meeting planned for the 13th Oct Club boat 940 is now repaired and available.


    RS 400 - Douglas -no open this year - consider for next year, fleet getting larger at club.



    1. Scouts

    There is now something happening at the club most evenings, Alexis will speak to Ed over use of the scout boat (it has a different fuel tank and engine) Also there is an offer of the scout RHIB for courses. We need to consider insurance and a contract if we share boats - Nigel / Giles to discuss.


    1. Safety boats - including safety boat maintenance

    We need to take the old no1 off the water and dispose of it - Alexis / Club to sell if possible (Rem one engine belongs to him)


    1. Training update - This will be a separate meeting post this meet.



    • Race coaching /sailing school matters


    Powerboat allocations for sailing school need to be adhered to here is the agreed allocation

    Mike will send this out to Instructors so they are reminded.

    Sailing school Fuel, Clearing up and locking up: There has been a few instances where fuel has been short for the sailing school and locking up have been burdensome due to stuff left out. This is largely down to the duty team not completing their tasks.

    Action to John to put out a reminder to all of the responsibilities of the duty team.

    Committee agree that the Sailing school, coaching and training will conform to the RYA Code of Conduct: and abide closely with the RYA school documented way of working for consistency sake.

    Trysail - going well

    Powerboat training - safety boat course planned for October



    1. Club Fleet.

    Reporting Accidents and Breakages: Keep Sailing over the summer will now carry out standard Maintenance on the boats they use - we will use their maintenance spreadsheet and see how this works - to be reviewed at end of season. Ideally we need a spreadsheet accessible to all on club website

    The club boat risk assessment sticker will include a contact email so that the maintenance team can be made aware of faults.

    Martin to speak to Giles about borrowing his heat gun to repair Vision

    Suggestion is a locked tool box for more expensive parts


    1. Health and Safety afloat


    Accidents and near misses

    Action to John to speak to Dave Ryder regarding reviewing the Near miss /accident book


    Pontoon maintenance - for work day

    Fuel shed door shut - ongoing issue all to remind others to close.

    Fire extinguisher close to fuel store - Dave S to purchase a foam extinguisher to be kept in club house foyer.


    1. Any Other business

    VHF - Are there enough working radios? Yes confirmed currently, one requires a new battery which Alexis is sourcing.

    Transmit buttons being pressed by radios in pockets, Action john - reminder email for duty team to use them and be careful about Open carriers.

    Jonathan has put signs on abandoned trailers.

    12th September is the date for the Club championships
