Laser Open At Island Barn Reservoir Sailing Club October 2003

Thirty four boats assembled on the start line on Saturday morning for the first race at Island Barn in a variable force 4. Steve Janering took line honours following a close race with Graham Lund and Rob Cage. The next race was quickly started and again Steve Janering worked his way into the lead and took the race, this time from Rob Cage and Tim Lewis.

After lunch the third race started after a general recall and some new faces lead the fleet round for several laps. However on the last beat Graham Lund pulled through from fifth to first to take the race from Edward Chaplin, Rob Janering and Ian Gregory. Steve Janering could only recover to ninth place after mistakenly returning to the start believing another general recall.

The fourth and final race was therefore set to be the decider between Lund and Steve Janering with the latter needing to beat Lund and score 1st or 2nd place to take the event. Unfortunately for Janering he couldn't repeat his morning form and Lund took the overall with a second win from Chaplin and Lewis.

The competitors returned to the bar tired but well satisfied after four hard competitive races, Lund took the event and was also first Apprentice Master, Ian McGregor was first Master, John Leheup took Grand Master and Cedric Verstratten first Youth.
