Island Barn Reservoir Sailing Club - Equality Policy
Island Barn Reservoir Sailing Club (IBRSC) is strongly committed to equality of opportunity for all. As stated in the first clause of our constitution, IBRSC is open to all in the community who wish to pursue the club's objects, without discrimination. It is the policy of IBRSC to ensure that everybody receives equal treatment regardless of age, ability, gender, ethnicity, religious belief, sexuality, social/economic status or disability.
Our aims include:
1. To make sailing and other approved water activities at IBRSC an activity that is open to anyone who wishes to take part commensurate with accessibility to the reservoir.
2. To provide an environment for everyone to enjoy the sport, in whatever capacity and to whatever level the individual desires.
3. To ensure that IBRSC activities, including training schemes, are accessible to all commensurate with accessibility to the reservoir.
Implementation:
Appointments to voluntary positions at IBRSC are made on the basis of an individual's knowledge, skill and experience and after consideration of competencies required for the role.
For anyone found to practice any form of discrimination in breach of this policy, IBRSC reserves the right to discipline any of its participants which may include termination of club membership and/or voluntary roles.
The effectiveness of this policy will be monitored and evaluated on an ongoing basis by the IBRSC General Committee
The policy was approved by IBRSC General Committee in January 2019
