NOTICE OF RACE

RULES
The regatta will be governed by The World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing 2017 - 2020, the Prescriptions of the Royal Yachting Association, Class Rules, Island Barns Reservoir Sailing Club's Sailing Instructions and ILCA rules.
Racing Rules 27.1 and 40 will be changed to the effect that buoyancy aids are required. The changes will appear in full in the Sailing Instructions. Competitors should note that Island Barn Reservoir Salining Club implement the RYA Racing Charter and that they will be required to undertake to sail in compliance with the Charter, which can be found at the front of the RYA rule book and at the point of event entry. Overall results will be calculated using the 2018 Portsmouth Yardsticks.
ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
The regatta is open to all boats of the Laser, Laser Radial and Laser 4.7 classes.
Eligible boats may enter by completing the event entry form, which will be available on the morning of the event from 09.30hrs.
ENTRY FEE
An entry fee of £12 is payable on the day , under 16's or subsequent family members £5 4 SCHEDULE
Three races are scheduled for the event with two results to count. A competitor's briefing will be held at the club at 10.30.
1st Race start 11.00hrs 2nd Race start 13.30hrs 3rd Race start back to back with 2nd race The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is 10.55.
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The Event Supplementary sailing instructions are on the club website and will be available at time of entry.
PRIZES
There will be vouchers awarded for 1st - 3rd places overall, the first Radial and 4.7. Other spot prizes may be awarded depending on the size of the entry.
RISK STATEMENT
Rule 4 of the Racing Rules of Sailing states: ‘The responsibility for a boat's decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone.‘
Sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore involves an element of risk. By taking part in the event, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that:
They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves, their crew and their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the event;
They are responsible for the safety of themselves/crew/boat and their other property whether afloat or ashore;
They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions;
Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate;
The provision of a race management team, patrol boats, umpires and other officials and volunteers by the organiser does not relieve them of their own responsibilities;
The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions, as can be practically provided in the circumstances;
INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of at least
£2,000,000 or the equivalent.
