Tuesday Trysail Schedule and Calendar Print E-mail

The IBRSC Tuesday TrySail runs every year from early May until August.  If you want to learn to sail then Island Barn has everything for the novice including experienced trainers, 122 acres of reservoir reserved for sailing and not forgetting you don't need you own boat as we have plenty of dinghies for training. So, don't leave it until July - come along early in the season! You don't need to attend every session, but obviously you'll learn more if you attend regularly. Sessions are repeated if you miss any, need more practise or you are a non-beginner looking to develop your skills.

We are open for training regardless of the weather; we've got indoor stuff to keep you amused if it is raining vertically or too windy. We are flexible so if there's something particular you want to learn, just ask.

See the training home page for information on what to bring. Please don't bring pets, excessive valuables or non-member children; the Trysail does not have sufficient supervision to train juniors (we run a Sunday Sailing School for Juniors wishing to learn to sail)

Evening Format

Learning to sail is best achieved without any other distractions on the water, so we keep Tuesday evenings clear of dinghy racing and dedicate our 122 acres of open reservoir to learning to sail and gentle cruising.

6:15 pm - club opens

6:30 pm - welcomes and lessons start

8:45 pm (or earlier on shorter evenings) -  recall signal, boats put away (all hands on deck please)

9:10 pm - theory

9:30 pm - drinks

10.30pm - club closes

Trysail Race Night

Trysail Race Night

Every year we round off the Trysail with a fun Race Night!

Once you've spent all summer honing your sailing skills, what better way to put them into practice than in a race? Don't worry it's never very serious, well not at all really and you can always team up with one of the club members in their boats if you don't want to helm yourself.

There are always prizes on the race night!
