RS Vision - RYA Sailing Courses at Island Barn Reservoir Sailing Club 

The RYA national sailing scheme gives you the best introduction with a series of sailing courses enabling you to quickly progress from beginner to expert in a controlled, safe and fun environment.

Our Provisional 2012 Course Calendar is as follows:

Beginner Sailing Courses 

Level 1
Introducing you sailing with all you need to know to get afloat under supervision

Level 2
Setting out the foundations of sailing for you

Level 3
Consolidating skills and trying new ones 

Advanced Sailing Courses

Seamanship Skills
How to handle a boat in all circumstances and solve problems afloat  

Sailing with Spinnakers
Everything you need to know about sailing with conventional or asymmetric spinnakers

Start Racing
The fundamentals of getting off the start line and round the course

Powerboat Courses

Powerboat 2
The skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat  

Safety Boat
The skills required when acting as an escort craft, safety boat or coach boat for a fleet of dinghies, wind surfers or canoes, or for racing or training activities

RYA Instructor Courses

The instructor is a competent, experienced sailor capable of sailing a training boat in strong winds and handling small powerboats. The instructor has been assessed as competent to teach adults and children, beginners and improvers.
