Island Barn Reservoir Sailing Club offers beginners sailing courses for adults and juniors. Whether you're looking for relaxing cruising or competitive racing - learn to sail in Surrey, just 15 miles from Charing Cross!

Our courses combine the excitement of sailing with the laid-back atmosphere you'll only get at a friendly club such as Island Barn. At the end of the course, you will be invigorated, relaxed and smiling! And you'll take away a skill for life.

RYA Courses and Qualifications
Learn to sail with the National Sailing Scheme and become a competant sailor.  The RYA scheme is a series courses from adults wanting to learn in dinghies through to advanced sailing skills. Our courses have been designed to help you enjoy whichever aspect of the sport appeals to you and they are taught by qualified RYA instructors

Adult Training Course - TrySail

Tuesday night TrySail is the perfect opportunity to learn how to sail in a laid back a laid-back structured training programme.  A chance to try sailing at a low cost, just £5 per session when purchased as a complete season!

Junior Training Scheme

The aim of these sessions is to offer children and youths up to the age of 18, from complete beginners upwards, a structured course starting with basic theory and sailing in a straight line, through beating, tacking, reaching, running, gybing, to race theory and a number of short races.
