Seven Scorpions turned out for the 2006 Island Barn Open in overcast conditions and a shifty force 2-3 breeze. Although the fleet was small, there was close racing throughout. Tom Jeffcoate and Andrew Smith (Sc. 1986) led most of the first race pursued by Peter and Thomas Rose (Sc. 1995). The Roses got the upper hand on the last run to win the race with Jeffcoate and Smith Second and Janet Gatehouse and Alan Ritchie third.

Race 2 once again had a battle at the front between Jeffcoate and Smith and the Roses. On this occasion Jeffcoate led across the line. Barry and Linda Wolfenden, in their new Specialized Marine/Ovington Scorpion were third.

A wind shift just before the start of race 3 meant a short postponement to allow the course to be changed. This time the Wolfendens made the early running. Peter and Thomas Rose overtook them on the second lap then led to the end of the race. The Wolfendens ended the race second with Jeffocate and Smith third. This meant that Peter and Thomas Rose won the meeting with Jeffcoate and Smith second and the Wolfendens third.
