Summer Special Event This year’s opening all day event was the “summer special” with a great turnout of 37 boats. There was a strong breeze for the first race and enough wind for all boats to get round in the second. The start set the scene for the first race; a strong gust as the gun fired and the RS600 of Dave Nunn and Solo of Chris Smith ended up wrapping around each other. Back at the club house this led to the quote of the day "I did my turns upside down and under water". Despite the fun at the start line the strong breeze favoured Dave’s RS600 as he tore through the fleet to finish first. Although, I fear the time under water combined with the conditions didn’t much help Chris as he finished 19th. Peter Curtis in his RS300 came in a strong second and third place went to William Scott in his Topper. Will’s third place came with my second favourite quote in the club house “I looked around and I had this Topper on my bow, I couldn’t get rid of him”.
The Masters: The Juniors: The Veterans:
After enjoying the barbecued lunch, wonderfully cooked by the Commodore (now everyone is going to see straight through that comment as a vegetarian I didn’t have any of his cooking), the club opened the reservoir to new comers. The two new RS Visions along with the trusty Enterprises were in popular demand as our visitors took to the water. Overall a great day at the sailing club and I'm sure the Commodore's day on July 17th will be as successful, so put it in your diary. |

Comments
I'm afraid that Julie didn't come 2nd as she shipped some strapping young chap as a crew which carries an age penalty.
Maybe next year try and get Dave Clark or Frank Beanland for an unassailable handicap number which will leave even Gareth struggling to keep up.
First Over 70 was Graham Potter
First Over 60 was Tony Butler.
