Well, the last race of the Anniversary series this year, and your scribe managed, in spite of the promptings of his phone calendar, not to realise that it was a) The Anniversary series this week and b) he was meant to be on duty. So I owe just about everyone a bunch of apologies, except possibly my team leader, who apparently also arrived at the club unaware he was supposed to be on duty...
So, what was this race like that I didn't get to see because I didn't arrive at the club until after the finish gun? Pretty windy by all accounts and by the retirement list, not to mention the rain lashing against my windows at home that was the prime reason for my late arrival... Well, looking at the results Peter and Sophie, freshly crowned RS500 inland Champions, won by a mile. A handicap dead heat between Gareth and John Oldham for 2nd, Mike Storey 4th and *another* handicap dead heat, this time Kevin Seebaluck and Chris Smith, for 5th. Remarkable.
Anyway, last day of the Summer season (what, already) and its work party weekend next week (must try and get up for that) so the Anniversary series is over for a year, no more wrestling with boat swaps and missing sail numbers for another six months, and how did the series work out?
Well the results are here of course, and you can see for yourselves. Well done Messrs Oldham, Curtis and Jones...
