Topper Open Training 28112009

  • TOPPER OPEN TRAINING

    Saturday  November 28th

    ALL DAY

Island Barn is fortunate to be hosting the next South East Area Open Topper training. This will take place on Saturday, 28th November. This is a great opportunity to improve all your skills as you will be coached by top RYA coaches, including a world champion!

It is open to all Topper sailors in the South East Area of all ages, including adults, from those that can sail a triangle, up to National Squad sailors. Yes, quite an ability range, but you will be split into abilty groups, so don't worry. It will be a fun day as well as a very informative one. It would help if you have attended at least one of Peter Curtis's Sunday racing sessions at the school, so thats nearly all of you. This is a good opportunity to meet Topper sailors from other clubs. You can use a full sail, reefed sail or 4.2 sail.

The cost is £20 for the day.

I don't know the timing yet but if your boat was rigged, ready to launch and you were changed by 9.15, you would be safe, I think. But watch the ITCA announcements. Gates will be open at 8.00

    Info from here and GBRTopper
If you get lost on the links the
    entry form is here
Send the form and fee to Geoff Crowther, not me, (see form), but do let me know by e-mail if you are attending.

If you have your own Topper, try to make make sure, if possible, it is in tip top shape, with the same racing kit as the club boats.
The event is for Toppers only and of course, one person per boat.

    IMPORTANT:
You need to wear a good, warm wet suit or dry suit, warm hat, gloves, etc etc.  You MUST have a Little Hawk Mk2, a burgee at top of mast, and a watch with count down. Guilldford Marine will help with all these.
This is a great time to buy a Topper, prices are low at moment and there are some good ones for sale. Try to buy with centre main, racing kit, good sails and trolly with side upstands.

But if you are still without one, the club Toppers are available. Let me know if you want to hire one at club rates. First come first served.          michaeljonessailing@btinternet.com
